English Smocking is a form of embroidery over pre-pleated fabric. It is commonly used for decoration, but the technique can also be used to anchor pleats. Students will be shown two basic stitches and will practice the embroidery techniques on their own project. Patterns for smocking are available commercially. Interpretation techniques for these commercial patterns will be discussed. Kit: contains pre-pleated fabric, Embroidery floss, needle that will be used for the project, and instructions.
Class is portable.
Note: Pleating of a student’s fabric for their own project is also available as a service.
