  • Weaving, Inkle Loom

    Basic considerations used to warp and then weave with an inkle loom will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will need to bring an inkle loom to class or make other arrangements. Warping techniques to produce different types of patterns will be discussed. Multi-color warp will be provided to allow students to warp their inkle loam with their weaving project. Following warping, students will weave on their loom with instruction provided for tensioning, edge control, and other aspects of weaving. Shuttles sufficient for inkle weaving use will be available for purchase for those without suitable shuttles.

  • Weaving, Rag Rug

    Students will be given access to a floor loom that has been warped specifically for rag rug weaving. Considerations for this type of weaving project will be given, and students will weave a portion of a rag rug project.

  • Weaving, Table Loom Use

    Instructor will bring a small table loom that is warped for the students to try out. Discussion will include options and limitations of weaving on table looms. Considerations for warping and weaving on this smaller size loom will be discussed.

  • Weaving, Tapestry Loom

    Class covers the fundamental aspects of weaving. Instruction will concentrate on techniques used in tapestry weaving (weaving a picture). Weaving related terms will be discussed, and some aspects of rigid-heddle weaving will be explored. A simple loom will be used to allow the students to start a weaving project in class to experience the basics of weaving. Techniques used to finish the project will be discussed. Kit: includes two small simple weaving looms, warp thread, weft thread in several colors, and tools needed to do multi-color tapestry weave project.

  • Weaving, Triangle Loom

    Examples of different sizes and types of looms will be presented in the class. Steps to start weaving with a triangle and square pin loom will be demonstrated. Students will be aided to weave on the instructor’s square and triangle loom. Handouts will be provided. Charges for class to be negotiated depending on level of content desired.

  • Weaving, Triangle Loom Construction

    Discussion of how to make your own triangle loom. These are normally called “pin” looms. Examples of different sizes and types of looms will be presented in the class. Steps to start weaving with a triangle and square pin loom will be demonstrated. Handouts with construction and usage notes will be provided. Charges for class to be negotiated depending on level of content desired.
